Echo Entertainment is an ASX 100 listed company that owns and operates The Star in Sydney, Treasury Casino & Hotel in Brisbane and Jupiters Hotel & Casino on the Gold Coast. Echo Entertainment also manages the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on behalf of the Queensland Government.
In 2014, Citizen was engaged by Echo Entertainment to help redefine and better understand how The Star, Sydney integrates with the physical environment and local community that it exists in. At the time we took the brief, the prominent entertainment venue was undergoing a period of transformation and wanted to understand the opportunities that existed for the business both within and outside its physical boundaries.
Drawing on our network of industry leaders in brand, architecture and urban design, Citizen pulled together a panel of experts as a ‘think tank’ to explore how communities can be integrated into the future shape of Sydney, particularly the Harbour foreshore. As consultants on the project, our role included facilitating the think tank, guiding the place making strategy and developing the digital presentation that was a tool for Echo Entertainment to use in their role on the leadership panel.
Partners on the panel included Aspect Studios and BVN Architecture.
The outcome of the project was an experience masterplan report that helped Echo Entertainment better understand the distinction between The Star’s physical assets and the customers who use it, and how the business can build its reputation through serving the needs of the local community it is a part of.
