Background
Burwood Library and Council provides an integrated building with a customer service centre and council administration as well as a community library and tech hub. The brief was to design a signage system which responds to the new Burwood brand whilst giving this refurbished facility its own identity and spirit. Both the interior and exterior precinct required wayfinding and placemaking integration.

Solution
CITIZEN’s approach to this facility was to embrace the client’s bright colour palette and use of circles. This was translated into a multi-colour signage scheme which provides pops of colours through the neutral interiors, bringing a sense of joy and invitation for the customer to engage with the new facilities. With many of the facilities bookable by the public 24/7 the signage integrated audio visual and security equipment to make the process of accessing the rooms easy and efficient.
