Project background
Ashfield Aquatic Centre opened to the public on Saturday 17 October 2020. The rebuilding of the old Ashfield Pool was the largest community infrastructure project in Council’s history, and has delivered multi-purpose aquatics and health and fitness facility that the community will enjoy for generations to come.

The signage scheme was inspired by water and the fluid forms of puddles. The organic shapes form the basis of the scheme. The colour palette of the signage inspired the interiors, embracing multiple shades of blue. The scheme features many pictograms – from the large placemaking people marking the amenities through to the small details where every locker has a pictogram. The goal was to create a facility for all ages and to create elements that are memorable for children and adults alike.
