Locally loved The Sutherland Entertainment Centre was reimagined for modern audiences. Significant architectural renewal and extension of the building transformed the once brutalist 1970s building into a contemporary cultural space. Building upon the new branding by Citizen, our scope was to develop wayfinding signage befitting a leading cultural institution.
Citizen blended brand and the built environment through the use of the brand typeface combined with materials that are strongly referenced from the architecture produced a cohesive and elegant solution. The signage design varies its approach based on the nature of the space. From larger signs addressing the crowds in the foyer to times where the signs intentionally recede to make way for the experience to be the hero. Bronze lettering against the leather walls and integrated illuminated lettering above the doors create a warm and timeless approach.
